PHILADELPHIA -- More than 300 Pennsylvanians joined PennEnvironment and U.S. Sen. Bob Casey for an hour-long webinar to discuss climate change, its impacts on Pennsylvania, and solutions.
A recording of the panel is available on PennEnvironment’s Facebook page.
As huge swaths of the nation deal with wildfires, hurricanes, excessive heat, and flooding, a growing number of Pennsylvanians are seeking solutions to tackle climate change. Senator Casey addressed constituents to stress the necessity of taking swift action, including pushing forward policy solutions laid out in the U.S. Senate’s Special Committee on the Climate Crisis Report.
“It is clear that climate change is the existential crisis of our lifetime. We must start implementing policy solutions immediately that can help stall global warming.” said PennEnvironment’s Executive Director David Masur. “At this critical moment, Pennsylvanians are fortunate to have Senator Casey fighting in D.C. for a future powered by clean energy and the other climate solutions that we all need and deserve.”
Some of the critical climate actions the Senator has taken this session include co-sponsoring the 100% Clean Economy Act and opposing Trump Administration rollbacks to the Clean Power Plan and Clean Cars Standards.
“I am glad to join PennEnvironment and Pennsylvanians from across the Commonwealth for this critical discussion about the threat posed by climate change and the need for immediate action,” said U.S. Senator Bob Casey. “As the country continues to face three distinct but intertwined crises – a public health crisis, an economic crisis and the climate crisis, it is our moral imperative to advance bold policy solutions that respond to the severity of each one. The cost of inaction on climate change, for our children and for generations to come, is simply too great. I look forward to hearing from Pennsylvanians about their priorities for action on climate change and continuing to work together to advance policy solutions to address the crisis.”
The webinar attendees and speakers committed to continue working together to fight climate change and ensure a livable climate for future generations of Pennsylvanians.
