Congressman Evans tours Bartram’s Garden for firsthand look at how DC policymaking affects Philly’s environment

As federal Land & Water Conservation Fund expires, Farm Bill hangs in balance, and Clean Water Rule comes under attack, local tour shows what’s at stake

WHAT:  Bartram’s Garden staff, volunteers, and local residents team up with PennEnvironment to give an interactive guided tour to Congressman Dwight Evans.  The tour will show first-hand how the federal environmental policies on which Rep. Evans votes directly affects our local environment and Philadelphia’s most cherished and historic places. Bartram’s Garden straddles the third and fifth congressional districts under the new borders recently created through redistricting.  The tour will include stops along Bartram’s Garden’s banks of the Schuylkill River waterfront where the Congressman will hear from local fishermen and boat builders; Stop 2 will be visiting the expanding trail that will connect Bartram’s Garden to the Schuylkill Riverfront Park in Center City; and Stop 3 will tour Bartram’s working community garden, Sankofa Community Farm.
