With our partners at Sierra Club, Clean Water Action and Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania, PennEnvironment released its scorecard for General Assembly members for the 2017-2018 legislative session.

Each session, PennEnvironment works with the state’s leading advocacy groups to research, write and distribute the Pennsylvania environmental scorecard. Our scorecard is a tool for concerned citizens to directly gauge the level of leadership from their state senators and representatives when environmental proposals come up for a vote in the General Assembly.

For the first time since doing these state-level scorecards, the 2017-2018 scorecard also included lifetime scores for members of the legislature. Votes on clean energy, land conservation, Department of Environmental Protection oversight and other issues were included in the bills scored. Other than a handful of exceptions, most of the votes scored were to guard against far-reaching attacks on existing environmental laws and regulations that were being pressed by polluters and their legislative allies in the state capitol.
