Two weeks after the disastrous oil train derailment in West Virginia, a new report and interactive map from PennEnvironment and FracTracker shows the nearly 4 million Pennsylvanians who live within the evacuation zone of a potential oil train derailment.

The report, Danger Around the Bend: the threat of oil trains in Pennsylvania, comes on the heels of an analysis from the U.S. Department of Transportation that predicts over the next two decades trains carrying crude oil or ethanol will derail 10 times every year. This is a frightening fact, considering these trains travel through Pennsylvania’s communities every day.
