Statement of Nathan Willcox, Energy & Clean Air Advocate for PennEnvironment
Philadelphia, PA - "With all the money flying out of Washington DC today, PennEnvironment is pleased to see a bright spot for clean energy in an otherwise
gloomy economic picture. By extending critical tax incentives for wind energy, solar power, energy efficiency and plug-in hybrid vehicles, Congress is helping to keep the lights on for clean energy in Pennsylvania and across the country.
"It is unfortunate however, that Big Oil and its allies added incentives for
liquid coal, tars sands, and oil shale - dirty energy sources which will increase global warming
pollution and use enormous amounts of water in the arid West. Still, the clean
energy incentives passed today will help put Americans to work at good jobs
while addressing our pollution and global warming problems."
